Find your seventh animal

Pick six animals you feel drawn to, then one you cannot stand. The seventh is the interesting one. It takes about two minutes and there is nothing to sign up for.

It all happens on this page. Your picks are not saved or tied to you, and all we count is how many people finish and which seventh animal they chose. The one exception is yours to choose: if you ask for the full reading by email, we keep your address and your seven animals so we can send it.

Why the seventh animal

The idea comes from Carl Jung. He noticed that what we react to most strongly in other people is often something we have pushed out of sight in ourselves, and he called this projection. Animals work well for it because nearly everyone has a quick, unreasoned feeling about them.

The six you feel drawn to describe the self you are happy to claim. The one you cannot stand often carries something you left out, which is why this page spends most of its words on the seventh. The whole method is set out in The seven-animal method, and there are other ways in under How to find out what your shadow is.

What this is not

  • It is not a personality test. There is no type and no score.
  • It is not therapy or a diagnosis, and it can tell you nothing about your health.
  • It does not predict anything.
  • It is one way of looking. If the reflection does not fit, trust yourself over the page.

Questions

What is the seventh animal?

It is the animal you cannot stand, chosen after six you feel drawn to. In Carl Jung’s terms it can point to the shadow: qualities you have kept out of your picture of yourself. It is something to think about, not a fact about you.

Is the test free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, and your reflection is worked out in your browser from texts that come with the page. If you want the longer reading of all seven animals, you can ask for it to be sent to your email. That is your choice and not needed for the result.

Is this a personality test?

No. Nothing is scored and you are not sorted into a type. You get a short reflection on two of the animals you chose, and one question.

What does the Symponia app add?

The app takes all seven animals and then talks with you about them, by voice or in writing, through a pencil-drawn cloud that is an AI companion. It also has guided breathing. It is for iPhone and for adults, and there are free messages to try it before you pay.
